Although all the email clients listed work slightly differently, they all need certain key items of information to work properly. You'll need the account details that you received after you completed the sign-up procedure ‚ your username and password, and you'll also need the following:
Incoming mail (POP3): mail.eidosnet.co.uk
Outgoing mail (SMTP): mail.eidosnet.co.uk
Mail login: username (not username@eidosnet.co.uk)
Multiple email addresses: whatever@username.eidosnet.co.uk
NB. When you download your email, everything will be downloaded at once. If you want to sort you multiple email addresses
into different folders you should use the filtering facilities of your email client (in Outlook Express you use the 'Inbox Assistant'
under the 'Tools' menu).
Offline vs. Online Email
Although Email doesn't allow you to have a conversation (like a 'Chat' program), the vast majority of the Mail programs available allow you read and write your
Emails 'offline'. This means that you can write as long, and as many, Emails as you want, without being connected to the Internet via your telephone line, thus
saving you money. When you're ready to send your Emails, only then do you need to connect. Once connected, the Emails will be sent and you can also check your
mail. This will download any mail direct to your system, after which you can disconnect to read your Emails and write any replies, without running up a phone bill.
