Winipcfg.exe is a program that you probably already have installed. It enables you to determine what the IP number of your PC is when it is connected to the Internet. Every time you connect to the Internet with EidosNet you IP number will be different, so you will need to run Wnipcfg.exe after every connection to make a note of your new IP number. Most of the time you don't need to know your IP number (MPlayer and Gamespy for example don't ask you to type it in). However, if you have arranged a game via mIRC or ICQ then you may need to know the IP number of the machine to connect to. If you are running the game you can let the other players know your IP number by running Winipcfg.exe first.

Open a DOS window and type "winipcfg" at the command line and press ENTER. A window will open that looks like the picture below. The important line is "IP Address" ‚ it is this number that people will need if they are trying to connect to your PC across the Internet to play a game. If you run Winipcfg.exe while you are not connected to the Internet the number will be 0.0.0.0. If you run it while connected to EidosNet the number will begin with the numbers "195.40.x.x". Remember ‚ your IP address will be different every time you connect to EidosNet.
Winipcfg.exe should already be installed on your PC. If it is not then contact Microsoft Technical Support or call them on 0870 50 10 100.
